mtd tax categories - seem different to ones in profit and loss account. why?

Question asked by Adam Hill 4 weeks ago

I will soon be making my first MTD quarterly submission to HMRC.

i have noticed that the MTD categories do not match up to the categories in my profit and loss account.

for example expenditure in maintenance (normally box 22 on yearly tax return) and car van travel expenses ( box 20 on tax return) on the profit and loss account has been recategorized into 'other business expenses' on the MTD tax return.

why has this happened? does this matter? if so how do I change the categories to the right ones?

I have locked my vat return ending 30th June so not even sure if changes can now be made.

help would be appreciated

Hi Adam,

I have taken a look and cannot see any transactions in Other Business Expenses. I presume you have managed to resolve this.
