Two quick questions...

Question asked by Simon Whitehouse 2 weeks ago

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if it's possible to export a spreadsheet or PDF version of each quarter's expenses (and income) so that I can review it all in one view (instead of having to go page to page to page in my Clearbooks)? It used to be so easy just reviewing everything in an excel spreadsheet in one glance. I'm sure this is possible, but I just haven't figured it out...

I'm also needing to input rental property details. Of course in our old HMRC tax filing system, this used to be in a separate section of the return. Is there a separate module to use in Clearbooks? Or does it all get lumped in with my sole trader income and expenses? I would rather keep the two separate.

Many thanks in advance for your advice and assistance!

Hi Simon,

Currently, it is not possible to export the return as a csv, I will raise this as a request with our Product team for review.

Under the new MTD, HMRC require separate submissions for your Sole Trader and Property income. In this case, you will need to open a property business by hovering over your business name at the top right > Add New Business > Select the Property plan. Once completed, you can then input all your property income and expenses in that business and submit a quarterly return for each income source.

Hi Simon,

No problem and you should be able to find this under Dashboard > MTD for income tax > Click Review > Select Consolidated in the Expenses dropdown (beside the Accounting Basis dropdown).

Thanks, Tommy. I couldn't make that work (no "Consolidated" that I could see? ), but I did find "All Reports" -> "Financials", which is a useful hub!

Hi Simon,

No problem and yes, if you head into Q1, then select Consolidated in the Expenses dropdown. Once completed, you should be able to click the Total Expense figure to review all the transactions that make up this amount.

Thank you!

In terms of exporting to PDF (or csv), I didn't mean the entire return, I just want to see, on one page, all of my expense entries for the quarter. Is this possible?

(But thank you for requesting the above - it would be very useful too!)
