creating invoices in foreign currency

You can indeed. You have to switch Multicurrency on, so go to Settings>Toggle features and "toggle" on the Multicurrency feature, four down. Every time you create an invoice or bill you will now see a Currency dropdown field.

You can also create currency bank accounts.

By the way, something I discovered by accident, if you want to see all the currencies available, including the current exchange rates, go back to the Toggle page and click on "Multicurrency". This also enables you to fix your own rates if you want to.
