Auto emailing sales invoices for the first time - can we avoid sending unpaid historic invoices?

Question asked by Kevin Doran 11 years ago

I don't currently use any of the auto email options but wouldn't mind giving them a try.

I presume if I want to automatically email a recurring invoice once it's been created I need to use the 'auto sender' feature?

I invoice monthly on the 6th so starting tomorrow would be nice.

However, I notice it says 'Automatically send an email for each unpaid invoice. One email per unpaid invoice is generated by this option'. Does that mean the minute I turn it on the 100+ invoices i've currently got as unpaid will all get emailed out? If so, any way of avoiding that?

Hi Kevin,

There is no reason why the system would send out old invoices which you didn't want it to. It should recognise that the recurring and sending setting only apply to those you create now. As the old ones were created without these settings they will not be sent out by mistake.

Thanks

Chris

Finally got round to switching this on. I can confirm it does send out all old unpaid invoices - a tad annoying but such is life.

A question: if I create an invoice and then email it to the client immediately, will the system know it's already been emailed and so stop the auto-send or will it still go ahead meaning the client gets two emails?

That's good to know, thanks for getting back to me Chris.
