Paypal multi currency

Question asked by Asif Patel 10 years ago

Hello, I am new to clearbooks. I want to import paypal transactions into CB. I have linked my account, however when the txns come through they are all showing up as £, even though I know that some come through as USD or Euro. They all come through as £ and it does not give me the option of listing them in £ or in Euro. Please advise as to how best to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Hi Asif,

Anan was correct in his response. When you import into Clear Books the amount will be displayed according to the currency of the bank account you import it into. Therefore, if you are importing into a Euro account all the transaction will show up as converted Euro payments. the only way around this, at the moment, would be to create a number of PayPal bank accounts with different currencies.

Hi Asif,

Hopefully this issue has been resolved for you now.

If you need any further assistance feel free to get in touch.

Many thanks,

Anan

No it has not. I was hoping you could help me...

Hi Asif,

I apologise for assuming this was resolved.

I'm afraid one of the limitations of the Paypal API tool is that it does not match the original description for a currency conversion which has occurred in your paypal account. e.g. if you have a GBP Paypal account and make a payment in USD, then the description of the Paypal transaction will be “Conversion from USD to GBP” rather than the original description ‘Purchase of xyz’. It is something we are working on resolving, however I cannot provide you with a specific time frame of the resolution of this matter at this current moment in time. Please accept my apologise for any inconveniences and thanks for your up most patience.

Many Thanks,

Anan

Is there a workaround ?

Rereading your response. You have answered a different question. I am not concerned about the description, but rather the currency of the txn itself. Does the currency of the transaction in which it occurs correctly show up If I receive a sale in USD, GBP and EUR, does the currency of the sale show correctly. At present all sales are being imported as GBP, even though they may be in USD.
