Bespoke Fields

Idea suggested by Rakesh Shah 11 years ago

Hi

It would be great if we could have bespoke fields, eg Job Number, Project, Department, Category, Unique ID. Having these fields allows you to have a deep analytical tool which helps you understand your business better. Obviously it's only helpful if you spend the additional time inputting the additional detail.

For some background I work for a engineering / energy early stage business.

As we grow I find the management team require information for example which may be for a particular project which is then summarised by a Category (Civils, Electrical, Mechanical).

Internally we break down each category even further to CIVILS1 - Prelims (design and radr survey), CIVILS2 - Groundworks etc. We then use this information to help us better forecast project costs in the future.

We currently use Sage which allows us to 2 bespoke fields, if clearbooks could let us have up to 10 fields it would be great as in every other aspect its better than sage. Having 10 fields will be allow us much greater analytical ability as we add fields for additional things as we grow, and help us produce better reports which can we tailor based on those bespoke fields.

Hi Shaz

They would appear in many areas of the system.

Pretty much in any instance where data was being input into the system which could later be analysed. So this would be on the Billing screen, Purchase invoice screen, Expenses, Timesheets, PO's, and finally on the Bank module when you are entering bank payments or receipts.

I imagine the download reports would need to be adjusted so they could pick up the bespoke fields so when once you have downloaded you can do the analysis in excel. In time you could build a report writer which allows you to dynamically build reports based on the selected fields.

Kind Regards Rakesh

Hi Warren,

Unfortunately this is not on our current road map. It would be a great addition, however other projects are taking priority at the moment - this will be reviewed in future.

Any further along with this? Is it likely to go ahead?

Hi Rakesh,

Would it be possible if you could just let me know where you would want these bespoke systems to appear on the system.

Thanks,

Shaz
