VAT MOSS should handle Monaco

Problem reported by Richard Cooper 10 years ago

Monaco is considered to be part for France for VAT purposes, so I assume that sales of digital services to Monaco are covered by VAT MOSS.

When I try adding an invoice for "Digital Services to EU Consumer" for a customer in Monaco I get the error message:

You have chosen the VAT treatment "Digital Services to EU Consumer", but the customer "Guy from Monaco"'s country is Monaco. This VAT treatment is only applicable to other EU countries

Adding that invoice via the API works but then the VAT MOSS report includes an entry for "Unknown country"

That is not really a solution though....

Hi Pete,

It appears that the log that was created has been reviewed and states that this will not be changed. The solution that Chris gave should be used when dealing with Monaco.

Still waiting....

Hi Pete,

Unfortunately not. This issue is logged with our customer suggestions, so there will be an update when it has been updated.

Any closer to a fix?

Hi Pete,

This issue has been logged and may be addressed at some point. However, as it affects very few users and as there are many tasks that take higher priority, unfortunately I can't tell you when this will be changed. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Any update on when this might be fixed? It's still an issue

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately, Clear Books does not yet recognise Monaco as an EU state. It is something we are looking to update, however. In the meantime, in the customer details section, please select France as the country for now (this is just an internal issue). The rest of the address can still specify Monaco and that will show on all invoices etc.

I am sorry about this. I have already forwarded this onto my colleagues to address further.

Many Thanks,

Chris
