Ticket unsolved after nearly six months!

Sorry to whinge, but ticket #4/76074 is unsolved after nearly six months, despite chasing. It's a glaring problem for my client, they see every time they look at the bank page. It isn't damaging their business, just their confidence in ClearBooks! Something listed as 'Bank Loan 1' in the bank accounts list clicks through to a purchase accruals account, the account numbers are even different. See attached screen grabs. It's such an obvious problem, I don't know why it hasn't been fixed.

Looking back at your email to me, and reading my message above, the books can be engineered to be in a muddle by having "Bank Loan A" on the Money screen associated with Bank Loan B (or Purchase Accruals) in the list of account codes whilst also having another account listed on the codes screen with the name Bank Loan A.

I'll leave it to John to get to the bottom of this but hopefully your situation has been created by humans and so can be undone by them (life's too short to get into who, why, when). Obviously, of more importance is to make sure the situation was not created by a non human.

On the point of using GL loan accounts not created from the bank screen screen, I agree that, in many situations, there's no need to use the bank section to create such accounts but it doesn't actually make any difference, you can still split bank payments in the way you describe to any code, whether created as a bank account or not.

Thanks for your suggestion Paul. I finally had a more insightful and helpful reply yesterday, this time from John F, which included a plan to resolve the problem. It just needed to get seen by the right person for progress to be made, a lesson perhaps there for CB when a customer is dissatisfied with the initial response from Support! I had to wait a very long time, and get quite angry before anything happened. At no point did I say I was happy to consider the support request closed. Excellence in customer service is to not just deal with a customer query (although that helps!), but ensure you leave them feeling better about your product or service after talking to you than they did before.

I hadn't renamed an account by the way, these were always two separate GL accounts that got somehow linked. All I think I may have done was change the account type, to get in the right place on the BS. It's disappointing that there is no audit trail of changes to the GL structure, nor any of transactions that are amended as opposed to being voided.

In the end I just used a standard GL code for the loan balance, and now explain the interest payments to the P&L and the capital repayment to reduce the balance on the loan account. Absolutely no need for the loan account to be a CB bank account, in fact simpler isn't it transactionally if you think about it!

Hi Stephen - After something similar here recently, I think I've managed to replicate this.

When you create OR edit a bank account name from the bank account area the name you create or edit, will alter the name in the account code list BUT this doesn't work the other way around.

So if I create a Bank loan from the bank screen and name it Bank Loan then, as we'd anticipate, an account Bank Loan appears on the Account code list. Similarly, if I go back to the bank screen and edit the name to be Bank Loan 1 then the name of the account in the code list changes to Bank Loan 1.

If, however, I then edit the account in the code list and call it "Purchase accruals" it does not change the name in the bank title on the bank screen but DOES show up next to the All, when I look in the account.

So, all you need to do to match up the names is to either edit the name in the code list, or even more easier, go to the bank edit screen (where you'll still see Bank Loan 1) and hit save, this will match up the names.
