How do I enter advertising

I want to enter a advertising bill which is not linked to a employee and not classed as an item how do you do this I feel I being stupid?

Having looked at all possibilities there does not seem to be a way to enter advertising as a bill without assigning to a employee as an expense or creating an item that does not exist? This is going to be a deal breaker for Clearbooks as this for me is a very basic function.

Hi Richard,

You can create this as a bill on the Purchases>Bills menu - click on the create new bill button. You don't need to select an item (this only appears when the stock feature is enabled), just select an account (account field highlighted below):

Alternatively, you can create this as money out from the Money>Bank accounts menu (or import a statement and explain the payment):

Enter the details of the payment:

Explain the payment using the transaction form and hit the add new transaction button at the bottom:

I tried your first suggestion and it insists I enter an item?

Apologies it does work it was asking for description not item

No worries Richard - do you use the stock feature at all, you could toggle that off so the item field doesn't appear when you are creating the bill.
