Why does clear books not recognise a duplicate invoice number?

I would have thought clear books would recognise a duplicate invoice number/reference number entered when saving and invoice, yet to my surprise it doesn't! !!

Wow every other accounting software I have used has this built in, surely this is something that needs to be put right immediately?

We do have the functionality to recognise duplicated invoice numbers, there's definitely an error that developers will be looking into asap.

Just to let you know that we've checked the duplicate detection code.

Everything should be working fine now.

Late to the table on this one (10yrs)

But can anyone explain how this works in practice?

Is this when a bill is created it checks the reference or summary? What/how does it actually check this to avoid duplication?

The system will detect duplicates based on the invoice/ bill number used.

So this is based on Clearbooks own references not our own 3rd party ones that we enter?
