Why has my customer base started duplicating customers

I have noticed that when I logged on to clear books today that my customer base had changed for no apparent reason I now have duplicated customers, my customer base has increased by 700! not really sure how this has happened!

Can anyone explain?

Mine has to I have thousands of duplicated entries!!!!

Really sorry guys - this was a mistake and has now been rectified by the technical team. If you have any further problems please let me know.
