Creditors Control Account

Question asked by Enoch Daniels 8 years ago

Hi all, I will be very grateful if I can be taught how to post expense creditors (i.e control accounts) transactions in Clearbooks. Example: Company A provides me with cleaning services and sends me an invoice each month. I want to be able to credit company A(creditor) with the invoice value and debit the cleaning costs (expense). Currently, i can't achieve this with the purchase-bills-create bill so i have to pass a journal for such transactions but I believe there should be an easier way of going about it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Enoch,

When you create a bill in Clear Books it credits Trade Creditors and debits the account you selected. Are you saying that you want essentially a separate Trade Creditors account for each supplier?

If so, then as you say, the only way to do this would be with journals, however I can't really see many circumstances where it would be desirable to do it this way in the first place.

As you specify the supplier when creating the bill, Clear Books keeps track of all of their transactions on their supplier statement Contacts > Suppliers > Supplier Name > Full Statement, hence I am not sure what the need for a control account for each supplier would be.

As I said above though, if you do need to do it that way then, unfortunately, the only way to do it is with journals.

I hope this helps.

All the best

Hi Enoch - the standard way is purchase > bills > create so not sure why you can't achieve this?
