I see - in that case you can create the two accounts in Clear Books on the Money>Bank accounts menu -

file

Before adding the Euro account first head to Settings>Configure system>Toggle features and enable multi currency

file

This will allow you to set up the Euro account in Euros

file

Once this is done you can use our Yodlee (a third-party software which connects to your bank account and imports statements into CB ) integration

https://www.clearbooks.co.uk/support/guides/yodlee-money-2/new-navigation-4/

In step 7 in the guide above you should be able to link the euro account to the Euro account in CB and the sterling account to the sterling account in CB.

Oh right cool - all would be welcome.

The list of other programs is useful thanks, this is the kind of thing our sales and marketing team like to monitor so I will let them know :)

So far I have been very impressed.

I have tested:

ClearBooks KashFlow FreeAgent QuickBooks Online Xero Freshbooks Kashoo, etc. … but ClearBooks seems the best fit so far for a freelance translator.

We are also currently discussing it and the various other options over on the largest online platform for translators @ http://www.proz.com/forum/software_applications/312953-looking_for_excel_spreadsheet_for_invoicing_payments_etc_ie_diy_to3000_clone-page2.html

Without wanting to bore you with too many details, in the translation community there is a program called "TO3000", which many people use for their accounting/project management, but most of us hate. The program gets updated at a glacial pace, and is hideous. It is desktop-based and has no connection whatsoever with bank feeds, exchange rates, etc. Anyway, if I decide to use ClearBooks, and mention it here and there over at Proz.com, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw quite a few translators heading your way.

There are actually quite a few new translation project management/invoicing programs/solutions popping up here and there, most of them web-based, but as far as I know none of them have automatic bank feeds, and all kinds of other things that ClearBooks has. In actually keeping track of the latest ones and will copy paste my list here (in case it is of interest to you):

Translation Project Management & Invoicing Systems

For freelancers:

– OTM SOLISTA: http://www.lsp.net/otm-solista-project.html (see "OTM" below)(development seems to have stalled back in 2014) – ]project translation[ (open-source TMS, but requires some costly plugins, e.g. database for freelancers, to become fully usable in an agency) – Quahill (fully-fledged software for agencies (or freelancers), including CRM): http://www.quahill.com/en/index.html (ugly and expensive) – TO3000 (Translation Office 3000): http://www.to3000.com/ – FreeAgent (with UK self assessment feature + UK banks importer) – BaccS: http://www.ibaccs.com/ (very interesting effort worth keeping an eye on) – MiniTPMS: http://minitpms.com/ (mysterious project. no actual app yet, but LOTS of talk, a lot of it amusing. see below) – Promikbook (looks interesting, but it's all in Swedish) – Protemos: https://protemos.com/ (online, Freelance and Enterprise versions. Freelance version is free, Enterprise has 3 months trial) – TOM Solito for Freelance Translators: http://www.jovo-soft.de/en/freelancer-translation-management/ ((see "TOM Agency" below) – LSP.expert

Corporate stuff:

– OTM (Online Translation Manager): http://www.lsp.net/online-translation-management.html (see "OTM SOLISTA" above) – ]project translation[ (open-source TMS, but requires some costly plugins, e.g. database for freelancers, to become fully usable in an agency) – Plunet: http://www.plunet.com/en/ – XTM: https://xtm-intl.com/ – XTRF: xtrf.eu – Protemos: https://protemos.com/ (online, Freelance and Enterprise versions. Freelance version is free, Enterprise has 3 months trial) – Projetex: www.projetex.com (from the same people that made TO3000) – Smartling (‘End-To-End Translation Management Solution’): https://www.smartling.com/products-services/ – TOM Agency Edition: http://www.jovo-soft.de/en/translation-management/ (see "TOM Solito" above) – Wordbee: http://www.wordbee.com

PS: I dictated a lot of the above, so please excuse any typos.

Hi John,

Indeed. I am a translator, living in the UK. I have a Barclays euro account (which most of my clients pay me into), and a Barclays sterling account (into which some clients pay me, if the invoice is in £, and where all my money ends up in at the end of the day). I would like both accounts in ClearBooks, and to be able to import the statements of both, preferable automatically via a bank feed.

Michael

Hi Michael,

When you say link the bank accounts to Clear Books do you mean have Clear Books import the transactions from each of these accounts?
