Stock naming / deletion

Question asked by Mike Ellis 8 years ago

Hi..

I have made my clearbooks inventory a bit too detailed and would like to simplify it. I am concerned about the implications of doing so though. I noticed after renaming some stock items that the description also changes in historic invoices.

Can you please explain what happens when a stock item is deleted.

Hi Mike

I'm afraid that the results of deleting and renaming stock items is a bit weird and so I suggest you try with a few dummy stock items/invoices as it's left me completely confused.

Fortunately, if you delete a stock item, (but be careful as there's no "are you sure" warning) any invoices or bills already produced using it will remain intact but, obviously, any stock history is lost.

When testing it if I changed the item name and its description a previously created invoice showed the new name but the original description. Also, if I deleted a stock item but then copied an invoice showing it, the stock item remained on the item list to be chosen?

Thanks for the insight Paul. I guess I need to do some testing.
