MTD VAT Advice Please

Question asked by Jim McAtear 6 years ago

Hi Support I'm looking for a bit of advice please. According your table https://clearbooks.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/33000233025-mtd-vat-overview-for-smes

It looks as if I'll be Stagger 2

VAT Period 1 Nov 2018 to 31 Jan 2019

Last Date MTD Sign up 14 Feb 2019

Filing Date 7 Mar 2019

will I receive any communication from HMRC about this ? I haven't had anything as yet!

Any Advice would be appreciated Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,

Ok, not a problem! Once you're ready to sign up, you must toggle on MTD by heading to Settings > Configure System > Toggle Features > VAT & Bank Import Tool > Tick on MTD Submissions. You will then see a new Tax tab, head to Tax > MTD Onboarding, this will take you through the steps from sign up to authorising Clear Books in which some steps are completed on HMRC's website. Hi Tommy Just thought I'd let you know I've completed the MTD on-boarding process and found it pretty straight forward I'm now waiting on HMRC.

the only part I had an issue with was during the HMRC website part it asked for our UTR number (10 digits) , had a bit of trouble finding that and it didn't say that that was one of the things it needed on the start screen on HMRC sign up

Thanks again for the help Jim

Hi Jim,

That's great to hear! And much appreciated for the feedback, I will double check if we have included the UTR number requirement in our help guides.

Tommy

No problem Jim!

Thanks Tommy. I think I'll finish of this VAT Period off and sign up then BTW How do I Sign up?

Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,

Hope you're well!

I am unsure as to whether HMRC will communicate this to businesses individually. However, the stagger table was compiled between us and HMRC which will give you an indication of the last sign up date for customers paying via Direct Debit. Nevertheless, as far as I'm aware, HMRC did communicate to ourselves that MTD Pilot is now open to all customers who will be mandated to use the MTD service from April.

In this case, if you'd like to get ahead of the curve, you are able to sign up for MTD, which can take up to 48 hours for HMRC to authorise and you should then be able to submit your next MTD return! If you require any further assistance, please do let me know!

Tommy
