CLIENT PAYMENT _ GROSS/CIS PAYMENT_ REFUND

Question asked by Colin Hubbard 6 months ago

I have raised an invoice to my client which was for "GROSS £1,200.00 - NET£1,000.00 (CIS£200.00)" but when they paid me, they paid the Gross figure not the net due value. so therefore I was paid for the cis amount. I sent them a payment pack for the £200.00 difference making us financially correct but... How do I record this on Clear books? I don't want to mess up the cis calculation in the back ground and not sure what to do or how to allocate these transactions.

any help would be much appreciated. PS. The VAT was zero rated therefore no VAT to consider here.

Kind Regards CH

Hi Colin,

In this case, it would be best to create a dummy overpayment invoice where you can allocate the additional £200 to. You may need to create a new overpayments account code under Settings > Accounting > Account codes. Once completed, you can then process a refund of £200 again coded to overpayments.
