We provide web design and hosting services, we have clients that pay monthly for hosting and annually for domains so the value at the bottom of the recurring invoice page doesn't really mean anything.
Can I filter or report to find out the value of monthly recurring invoices, or annual recurring invoices seperatly?

We don't have a specific report for this at the moment, however what you could try is assigning an appropriate project to each recurring template.
If you haven't got projects toggled on you can do so on the Settings>Toggle features menu:
You could then run a transaction report, Reports>Other>Transactions each month/year and filter by the appropriate project:
