VAT Returns submitted do not agree to VAT returns generated in Clearbooks

Question asked by Darren Fortune 10 years ago

Historically vat returns have been generated from clearbooks and submitted to hmrc. When i regenerate the same vat returns in clearbooks, the system now shows different numbers. The difference appreas to be 'approved invoices'. Can anyone explain?

Hi Darren

When generating and submitting a VAT return through Clear Books the return is subsequently saved/locked i.e. no amendments can be made and you can't delete.

When you say you're 'regenerating the return' are you 1) having to enter the to/from dates again or 2) selecting the saved return from the dropdown box?

Hi Darren,

I'm sorry to hear there's a difference between the VAT return you submitted to HMRC and the one you generated on CBs.

Can I ask if you've reconciled your VAT return, if so do you know which specific invoices are effected?

I look forward to your response.

Kind Regards,

Shaz

Many thanks guys.

This has answered my question. The previous VAT returns generated in Clearbooks had not been saved/locked by hitting the 'Generate VAT' button. The numbers had simply been filed on HMRC website. Now when I create a new VAT return for the same periods the numbers are different. The differences appear to be sales invoices marked 'approved' rather than 'paid'. I should be able to resolve things from here.

Thanks again. Lisa
